Job Title: Chief Mechanic

Job Description
- Maintain and repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the rig.
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Supply information to assist in the development of maintenance and repair budget.
- Assist in maintaining marine equipment i.e. cranes, thrusters, ballast pumps and valves, auxillary equipment, etc.
- Ensure that service, maintenance and other operational reports are accurate and complete
- Liaise with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering and use of fuel, potable water, and drill water in consideration of rig's stability.
- Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to technical field support
- Carry out classification society surveys as part of continuous survey of machinery.
- Plan and coordinate with other department's prior t any major activity such as rig moves, running and retrieving BOP, etc.
- Inform supervisor and other departments heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig
- Prepare annual performance appraisal for all subordinates. Recommend promotions or disciplinary action up to and including discharge.
- Maintain an adequate supply of spares in order to fulfill maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation
- Troubleshoot and repair faulty mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic drilling equipment and tools.
Qualification and Experience
- Mechanical Engineering
- Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
- 6 yrs and above
