FITC Nigeria - was established in 1981 as a non profit organisation limited by guarantee, based on the Company's Act of 1968, in response to the recommendations of the Pius Okigbo Committee set-up by the Federal Government of Nigeria to review the Nigerian financial system. It is owned by the Banker's Committee, which comprises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, all licensed banks and discount houses in Nigeria.

Our client, an Electricity distribution company in Nigeria, is looking for young, vibrant, and intelligent men and women to fill the available position below:

Job Title: Head, Corporate Communications

Location: Kaduna

Job Summary
  • The successful candidate will produce an annual corporate communications plan, incorporating corporate campaigns and departmental-based campaigns that publication on an ongoing basis.
  • S/he will ensure that the Internal Communications function of organization has a high impact in terms of keeping staff regularly informed, engaged and inspired and ensure that staff have a clear and positive grasp of what the organization stands for and what it is trying to achieve.
Technical Requirements
  • The successful candidate will produce an annual corporate communications plan, incorporating corporate campaigns and departmental-based campaigns that publication on an ongoing basis.
  • S/he will ensure that the Internal Communications function of organization has a high impact in terms of keeping staff regularly informed, engaged and inspired and ensure that staff have a clear and positive grasp of what the organization stands for and what it is trying to achieve.
  • Ensure that staff can readily make their views known on any topic that affects them and their services
  • Manage all the existing communications functions of organization within one centralised team, and incorporate, where appropriate, the budgets associated with directorate based communications activities.
  • Work closely with all line managers and their teams around the organization, to ensure that their services' own work on communications complements, and dovetails with, the role of the central team and does not duplicate or conflict with it or lead to unnecessary expenditure.
Educational Qualifications
  • Candidate must have a first degree in Social Sciences and a master's degree in English, Mass Communications, or Industrial Relations. Professional qualification, with strong evidence of good practice years, preferably in a media outfit, is required.
  • Professional membership of relevant local and/or international associations e.g. NIPR, NIM.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience to the job objectives.
  • Must be proficient with the computer, with special emphasis on project management and power point presentation skills Must also have strong communication or media background.
Behavioural Requirements:
  • S/he should be able to communicate effectively with customers.
  • S/he should be able to listen to symptom description; analyse problems; to respond effectively; and to provide constructive feedback to the customers on problem resolution.
  • S/he should be able Identify and establish beneficial business relationships; optimise the organization's Stakeholder's segment requirements; effectively advocate the organization's products to Stakeholder's and develop new relationships.
