IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the position of Senior Research Support Officer at its Headquarters in Ibadan.
Job Title: Senior Research Support Officer
Location: Ibadan, Oyo State
Job Descriptions
- Assist in production of yam planting material and associated activities.
- Assist in virus indexing production of clean yam propagation material monitoring and reporting.
- Participation in field surveys, data management and analysis.
- Preparation of technical reports and involvement in any other responsibilities as may be assigned by your supervisor.
Minimum Qualification & Experience
- B.Sc in Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Biotechnology or closely related fields.
- A minimum of four (4) years' experience in a similar position.
Skills & Abilities
- Experienced in laboratory research and good knowledge in general laboratory management.
- Experience in application of diagnostics techniques as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), polymerase chain reaction (PCR), nucleic acid isolation and computational skills.
- Experience in propagation of planting material; tissue culture experience is an added advantage; and excellent ability to prepare technical reports and information flyers.
- Should be a good team player, and be able to complete research activities on-time and submit reports.
