IITA is an international non-profit agricultural research-for-development (R4D) organization established in 1967, governed by a Board of Trustees, and a member of the CGIAR Consortium. Our R4D approach is anchored on the development needs of tropical nations. We work with partners to enhance crop quality and productivity, reduce producer and consumer risks, and generate wealth from agriculture. We have more than 100 internationally recruited scientists from about 35 countries and 900 nationally recruited staff based in various stations across Africa.

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable candidates for the position of Project Assistant at its Headquarters in Ibadan.

Title: Project Assistant

Location:
Ibadan, Oyo State

Job Descriptions
  • Maintain the project partner and stakeholder database, making sure the database is populated and data is kept up-to-date.
  • Maintain website of the breeding community of practice through a mechanism of regular updates and communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in data management including documentation of baseline data collected in the various countries.
  • Assist in developing information sharing products and putting together training materials
  • Assist in compiling reports to the donor.
  • Assist in organizing meetings and training events.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned as your supervisor.
Minimum Qualification & Experience
  • B.Sc/HND in Social Science, Arts or related discipline.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in a similar position.
Skills & Abilities
  • Database management.
  • Good knowledge of online social media tools.
  • Good computer skills, MS-Office applications (use of document management applications, software for publishing and lay-outing will be an advantage).
  • Good communication skills, especially written communication.
  • Good skills in data analysis.
  • Good event management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and ability to acquire skills quickly (fast learner).
  • Self-motivated and pro-active person, willing to take initiative.
  • Excellent command of English language (knowledge of French and/or Hausa will be an advantage).
