Job Description
Strategic Direction and Development of the Department and Whole School:

  • Demonstrating an active contribution to establishing and maintaining policies, practices and aspirations of the School which promote high achievement through effective teaching and learning
  • Participating in discussions about curriculum development and ensuring that the senior leadership team are well informed about plans, priorities and effective strategies in the curriculum area
  • Creating an environment where students and staff develop and maintain positive attitudes towards teaching and learning
  • Using data effectively to monitor and evaluate student progress; planning and implementing effective intervention to support all students to achieve high standards.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related fields of study. Master’s degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Education Technology will be an added advantage.
  • Teaching experience in ICT, Data Processing and Computer Science.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the delivery of IGCSE ICT and WASSCE Data Processing/Computer Studies curriculum. IGCSE Assessment Specialist status will be an added advantage.
  • At least six years of successful full-time experience as a classroom teacher and at least three years in the HOD position.

Technical Competences, Skills and Abilities:

  • An understanding of TCP/IP networking and current knowledge of available and emerging technologies.
  • Fairly good working knowledge of some programming languages like Oracle, Greenfoot, Scratch, PHP, Java, Python, SQL etc.
  • An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting.
  • Competency with Windows computers and software, in particular Microsoft 365.
  • Experience providing professional development for teachers or other adults in the integration of technology for instruction and productivity using all of the following modes: modelling, one-on-one, small group, or large group.
  • Technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, web page development, presentation, digital video and audio editing, image processing, and graphics applications and working knowledge of instructional design and assessment.
  • A sound working knowledge of Microsoft 365 is critical.
