Job Title: Accountant

Location: Gwarimpa, Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • The Accountant is responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organisation, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
  • This role Supports management through the collection, processing, recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data, verifying the validity, completeness and accuracy of source documentation.
  • Maintains complete and proper records of revenue, expenditure, assets and liabilities, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information

Responsibilities 

  • Managing the day-to-day accounting department operations
  • Responsible for bank account reconciliation for all subsidiaries
  • Recommends changes to policies based on technical guidance and interpretation of Financial Regulations and Financial Reporting Standards
  • Assists in the development of strategies based on financial research and analysis to accomplish the company'smission, vision, and organisational goals and objectives
  • Ensures proper maintenance of the General Ledger (ledgers for creditors, debtors, loan and advances) including the preparation of adjusting journal entries
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register/Schedule which includes the management accounting of fixed assets and depreciation accounts
  • Responsible for the resolution of accounting discrepancies
  • Prepare staff salary schedule with HR
  • Provide advice to staff for the daily processing of payments and receipts.
  • Generate weekly bank reports
  • Proper filing of all financial documents
  • Running of impress system for all the subsidiaries
  • Maintenance of all Project accounts

Requirements

  • First Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • ACA, ICAN, CIMA, CFA, MBA, CPA or any other relevant professional qualification is an advantage
  • Three (3) – five (5) years of progressive financial responsibility
