Job Description
  • Support the day to day commercial activities of the organisation
  • Manages the customer relations system of the organisation as well as customer visits and follow up
  • Responsible for resolving customer complaints and concerns quickly and efficiently by liaising with operations, planning and finance department
  • Attends and sometimes represent the organisation in high level customer meetings
  • Manages all direct reports and performing customer service related activities to ensure that transactions are processed timely and correctly
  • Provides complete and accurate reports to chief commercial officer or as required by stake holders
  • Management of shipping lines contracts and service level agreements
  • Design and create commercial activities, policies and strategies that align with organisational strategy
  • Interacts with agents, consignees, shipping companies, government agencies and other stake holders in the maritime industry on customer/commercial related activities
  • Lift all prepayment and government agencies holds
  • Ensure successful implementation of any new process introduced by management for customer service related activities
  • Ensure that recognized safe working practices are utilized for all terminal operations and maintain implementation of safety policies and procedures
  • Provides first line of response for any accident, emergency situations and damage assessments
  • Assisting the safety and security team as required to maintain the best control at the terminal
  • Contribute to the ‘on the job training’ of supervisory staff and undertake other duties within capabilities as required by senior management
  • Assist in the development of staff to ensure they perform at efficient and effective levels by monitoring performance and taking appropriate action in order to ensure they reach their full potential
  • Performs any other related activities as designated by the chief commercial officer
Requirements
  • A relevant university degree from a reputable higher institution
  • At least 7 years experience in a commercial or customer service in a similar related industry with at least 4years in a managerial capacity
  • At least 10years strong supervisory and customer service management experience in container terminal operations environment or similar related industry
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Fluent in English Language (written and spoken) and good report writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills
  • Proficiency in microsoft office applications
  • Good conflict resolution and negotiation skills
