Job Title: Technical Project Manager

Location: Lagos, Nigeria

About the Job

  • The Technical Project Manager will be expected to provide the link between the end-user and business team and any third party regarding requirements and/or functionality, throughout the project lifecycle, to capture business and process workflows, facilitate groups to gather information, and carry out one-to-one interviews, design and execute test scenarios and test scripts, to review and provide functional systems requirements.
  • The role will have the responsibility of coordinating and refining requirements defined by programme stakeholders, reviewing existing capabilities, selection and configuration of third parting products, development of internal products where appropriate, and establishing support for adoption and ongoing usage of the technology platforms and products.
  • The role will support the business-led initiative and coordinate across a cross-functional team that includes business representatives, technology, information security, business change, and other stakeholders and participants.
  • This position reports to the Head, Enterprise Programme Management.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal business representatives and the business change group to define requirements, short-term priorities, and the longer-term roadmap.
  • Gather, analyse, validate, specify and manage detailed product requirements and backlogs within the context of the overall roadmap.
  • Responsible for data analysis and mapping, system configuration, implementation, consultative training and/or reinforcement of training, and implementation support of software applications for new and existing stakeholders.
  • Follow project standards within established timeframes and at defined quality levels, and ensure projects are completed according to schedule and stakeholders’ specifications.
  • Analyse existing systems and business models and translate business and stakeholders’ requirements into highly specified project briefs.
  • Work with the Solution Architect and other domain experts to review existing internal capabilities as well as available third-party products and determine the best approach to support user requirements.
  • Ensure the technology strategy and suite aligns with and support the wider technology and digital division strategic plan.
  • Implement effective product lifecycle management plans with a particular focus on rapid deployment and lean decommissioning/transition.
  • Understand the implications of technical decisions and trade-offs and be able to explain these to users and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development of internal technologies and/or the implementation and configuration of off-the-shelf products by working with multi-disciplinary delivery teams.
  • Work cooperatively with technology partners, product specialists, and software development teams and ensure delivery is to specified scope, schedule and budget.
  • Support non-technical business improvements and transformation, such as business process improvement, process standardisation, and new business models.
  • Communicate delivery progress to stakeholders, and escalate and resolve delivery issues.
  • Ensure that budgets are adhered to and deadlines met.
  • Organise and facilitate communication between business and IT teams to manage expectations from an ongoing or upcoming project.
  • Update and maintain Project documentation in the project library for retrieval of information.
  • Perform business analysis tasks through specialisation in understanding the business usage of information technology (IT) and helping technology add value to the business.
  • Demonstrate understanding and be comfortable with a variety of technical architectures and platforms, and understands IT capabilities and which applications in the organisation deliver various capabilities.
  • Identifying, defining, developing, and implementing improvements to project/financial reporting and monitoring processes and procedures.

Job Specification
To successfully deliver the above goals, the right candidate must have:

  • HND / B.Sc Degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other Management Science disciplines.
  • Must have 4 -7 years post NYSC IT experience - i.e. process/business analysis.
  • Relevant professional qualifications(s) in Business Analysis (e.g. CBAP, CCBA, PMI-BA) and Project Management (e.g. PMI, PRINCE2, PSM) are desirable.
  • Relevant Capital Market Experience is desirable.
  • Software application development experience.

Desired Competencies and Skill Requirements

  • Working knowledge of recent Project Management and Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (PMBOK & BABOK).
  • Working knowledge of PRINCE2 or SDLC methodology.
  • Working knowledge of Agile implementation approaches.
  • Experience in financial services within product development or a technology discipline will be a distinct advantage.
  • Detailed understanding of business processes and ability to undertake complex business process mapping.
  • Strong knowledge of writing requirements specifications for Information Systems.
  • Strong communication and organisation skills.
  • Previous experience in leading and tracking BA activities on projects.
  • Experience in working in a change management environment.
  • Experience in working with 3rd Party solution suppliers.
  • Have the ability to think logically, analyse situations and lead diverse teams in complex problem solving.
  • A relationship builder who can build strong and influential relationships with business and technology leaders.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with sometimes conflicting requirements and priorities.
  • Product or Offering Management experience.
  • Experience working with technology vendors/partners and evaluating COTS/third party software.
  • Experience with Agile software development.
  • Market awareness as well as creating and communicating a clear product vision.
  • Knowledge of Design Thinking skills and demonstrates customer-centric focus.
  • Familiarity with computer programming techniques and Software Engineering Methodology required.
  • Familiarity with Data Science and Data Analytics techniques and products.
