Job Title: Fireman

Location: Warri, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Prevents fire damage by conducting surveys and inspections for hazards; enforcing codes.
  • Prepares staff on site to prevent fire damage by developing and conducting educational and training programs.
  • Ensures availability of water at fire scene by testing hydrants; requesting and expediting repairs; verifying repair.
  • Minimizes fire damage by responding to alarms; driving and operating equipment; regulating water pressure; combating and extinguishing fires; rescuing and reviving people.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; notifying supervisor of needed repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; studying publications; participating in scheduled drills.
  • Maintains fire tender and related equipment by completing maintenance schedules.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Keep and Maintain records of Fire equipment inspection or repair and other accountable aspects of fire department’s day-to-day job
  • Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from a fire;
  • Makes minor repairs to equipment and apparatus, performs routine preventative maintenance tasks, and keeps records of such action;
  • Works in a safe manner and reports unsafe activity and conditions. Follows Company’s HSE policy and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the company HSE MS Manual.
  • Enters inspection, training and (on occasion) fire and emergency medical service calls into the records management system.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • School Leaving Certificate
  • Ability to drive fire truck
  • At least 2 years Fire Fighting experience.
  • 18yrs of age or Older
  • Valid Class E Driver's License
  • Valid First Aid, CPR certificate
  • Make determinations as to the best course of action for fighting fires or responding to other related emergency situations;
  • Work under extremely stressful situations, day and night, which result from a fire and other emergencies, including the responsibility for remaining calm and carrying out all duties with the recognition of the threat to life and property.
