Black Pen Recruitment - Our client is Africa’s portal into the crypto economy. They are building a financial structure that is centralised in crypto exchange, a lending platform, an NFT marketplace, and other products to fully bring Sub-Saharan Africa into the new world of decentralised finance, ownership, and creativity. With the backing of premier crypto investors and Silicon Valley VC firms, they are now structuring the introduction of their first product set to our launch markets, which are in Kenya and Nigeria.

Job Title: Senior Vice President for Governmental Affairs (FinTech / Cryptocurrency)

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with government actors of the highest level across the African continent
• Track and analyse developments in policy making and national and regional sentiment and their impact on the industry.
• Manage projects across a wide range of topics including outreach, engagement, and planning and coordinating events and meetings.
• Develop and lead campaigns both in-country and regionally.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders and field requests and queries from partners.
• Engage with external stakeholders and help them understand major product developments, launches, policy changes, or technology updates.
• Work cross-functionally with teams across legal, compliance, product, technology, communications, and others to understand priorities and develop custom projects where necessary.

Requirements

• +8 years of experience in either a political, government affairs, or policy environment, ideally in the FinTech or financial services sector.
• Exceptional communication skills
• The ability to understand and adapt to different regulatory environments.
• A strong understanding of public policy affecting new and innovative markets.
• A willingness to collaborate across geographies, functional areas and competencies.
• A predisposition for taking ownership and consistently delivering excellence.
• A desire for continuous learning, with the ability to quickly adapt to an ever-changing environment.
