Applications are invited from qualified candidates for appointment as Executive Director in a leading insurance company operating in Nigeria with head office located in Lagos and a network of branches across the states of Nigeria.

Job Title: Executive Director (Technical)

Location:
Lagos
Reports to: The Managing Director

Job Purpose
  • The Executive Director is responsible for successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set by Board of Directors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director will be expected to perform some or all of the following:
  • Proven Leadership Ability
  • Operational Planning and Management
  • Human Resources Planning and Management
  • Financial Planning and Management
  • Community Relations/Advocacy
  • Risk Management
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a related field; higher degrees will be an added advantage
  • Professional designation
  • Fellowship of the CIIN or any equivalent
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Cognate experience in the technical operations of a composite insurance company
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to insurance companies
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization
  • Knowledge of all Federal and State legislations applicable the insurance industry including: employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, taxation, environmental/planetary sustainability, health coverage etc
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Management
  • Knowledge of Financial Management
  • Knowledge of Project Management and Business Analysis
Proficiency in the Use of Computers for:
  • Word Processing
  • Financial Management
  • E-mail
  • Internet

  • At least 15 years post qualification experience (at Associate level, though must currently be a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Nigeria or its equivalent)
