Job Title: Culinary Instructor

Location: Yaba, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Description

  • We operate a cooking line with the capacity to cater to a high volume audience in the city of Lagos. Currently, our organisation is opening a Culinary Training School as part of our initiative to address the skills gap in the hospitality and quick service sector in Nigeria.
  • We are looking for an experienced, versatile, and passionate Culinary Instructor who can develop, operate and deliver our training curriculum for the School.

Responsibilities

  • Review the current curriculum and develop a functional curriculum for the Training school
  • Develop lesson plans in line with the curriculum and training calendar
  • Collaborate with other Trainers to ensure effective, excellent, and impact-driven delivery
  • Deliver lectures and hands-on sessions
  • Assign cooking projects and written assignments
  • Provide practical training in culinary arts
  • Teach and demonstrate the preparation of different types of foods – local, African and continental dishes
  • Imbibe on the students, basic cooking skills (the art of cooking from procurement to cooking, plating, and service etiquette).
  • Guide students on the use of tools, kitchen equipment, ingredients, spices, and recipes
  • Develop case studies, videos, and other instructional materials on contemporary, historical, or cultural values of certain foods, spices, and recipes relating to culinary arts and boost the training delivery and impact
  • Train on food handling, food hygiene, health and safety standards and regulations
  • Grade Trainees on their performances and guide them in their future career in the hospitality and restaurant industry.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of cooking including restaurant experience
  • Teaching or Employee Training capabilities (Preferred)
  • 3+ years Leadership and Managerial experience
  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) Certification
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Ability to lead, manage and mentor students
  • If you have specialized experience in different Nigerian and African dishes or have experience working with an international hotel as a Chef/Manager, it will be an added advantage.
