Job Title: Cashier

Job Summary
- The cashier is responsible for interacting with customers and accepting payment for goods and services provided.
Responsibilities
- Courteously greets customers upon arrival and leaving the premises.
- Ensure all products and services display the correct prices and tax information.
- Ensure all bills are correctly inputted and displayed before handing them to the customer.
- Place printed bills in folders to be presented to customers.
- Inform customers about available modes of payment and receive payments in exchange for services rendered.
- Process credit, and debit card payments, providebank account details, and ensure that customers sign receipts if necessary.
- Issues change and receipts to customers and keep copies.
- Record all transactions with the use of the cash register.
- Sort, count cash, and dockets, and arrange for proper reconciliation at the end of each shift.
- Maintains accurate and correct transaction amounts and closes out the register at the end of the shift.
- Record transactions daily so they can be easily tracked down in case of discrepancies.
- Manage product returns and exchanges.
- Prepare accounting reports and perform other simple bookkeeping activities.
- Report and sort irregular transactions.
- Perform a wide range of suggestive selling tasks.
- Provide customer service and complaint resolution.
- Answer customers’ questions regarding billed items.
- Assist waiters/servers during rush hours by packing takeaways and leftovers.
- Help waiters and kitchen staff when needed.
Experience / Competency Requirements
- HND qualification
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hospitality/restaurant, retail store, or related professional area.
- Must be savvy in cash handling.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools, calculators, and other machines required for transactions.
- Prior knowledge in bookkeeping or some accounting activities is an added advantage.
- Excellent mathematical, multitasking, and computer skills.
- Experience working with check authentication appliances and credit card machines.
- Friendly disposition and strong work ethic.
- Outstanding customer relation skills and ability to ensure a customer priority culture.
- High levels of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Ability to work with flexibility in a continuous schedule of days, nights, holidays, and public holidays/weekends.
