Job Title: Channel Development Manager - Modern Trade

Location: Lagos
Reports to: Market Head (Country Head), Nigeria
Direct Reports: None
Travels: Minimal travels to cities outside Lagos. (3-4times a year)

Job Summary

  • Our client is sourcing for a Channel Development Manager who will work in her Nigeria business unit. Modern Trade is its biggest channel in Nigeria, the channel is growing with the opportunity to influence customers towards great in-store execution.
  • The role is needed in Nigeria due to the strategic importance of this channel (size) & the need to drive faster profitable business growth.

Key Role & Responsibilities

  • You will be a pioneer in this role within the business in Nigeria and will enjoy the range of opportunities offered by the company either within its segment or any of the segments within the group.
  • You will be expected to be the thought leader to distributor resources working in the Modern Trade, and get them excited about the potential of the channel.
  • The company regionally and globally is equipped with strong internal knowledge, the ideal candidate will be expected to leverage this knowledge to accelerate the business’ success in Nigeria.
  • You will lead the channel strategy deployment with the Distributor Shared Resources.
  • Overall, the ideal candidate will be expected to craft the channel strategy and drive compliance with the Distributor Staff.

Eligibility Criteria

  • B.Sc in Business Administration, Marketing, or related disciplines.
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in Channel distribution of FMCG goods or Modern trade.
  • Relevant certification and/or MBA is a plus.
  • Self-starter and Entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Excellent Knowledge of Modern Trade Required.
  • Candidate must have a high sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with Key customers in the modern trade channel.
  • Ability to influence peers and partners through leadership skills.
  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
  • Candidate must possess excellent confidence in relating with major stakeholders.
