Established in 1947, Yaba College of Technology is the oldest tertiary Polytechnic in Nigeria, with all its National and Higher National Diploma programmes duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The staff and students' population stand at 1,933 and 27,605 respectively. The College has been rightfully and earnestly ranked as the number one Polytechnic in Nigeria for third year running according to Webometric ranking released in January, 2022. The College is presently governed in accordance with the Federal Polytechnic Act Cap F17 of 2004 as amended by Federal Polytechnic (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Yaba, Lagos

Job Description
Among other functions and duties, the Registrar:

  • The Registrar is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the College;
  • Functions as Secretary to the Governing Council and all its committees;
  • Functions as Secretary to the Academic Board;
  • Takes charge of the College Registry and Record Management; and
  • Interprets and applies rules and regulations of the Polytechnic.

Requirements
The prospective applicant must:

  • Hold at least a good Honours Degree (at least Second Class Lower) in Art, Social Science or Humanities;
  • Have at least eighteen (18) years post qualification cognate experience, plus membership of recognized relevant professional body;
  • Be intellectually and professionally sound and knowledgeable in the Rules and Regulations of the Polytechnic System;
  • Be vast in Public Service Rules and be computer literate;
  • Be loyal to the Chief Executive and the Council, and assist effectively in the running of the affairs of the Polytechnic;
  • Not be more than 59 years of age at the time of assumption of office on March 8, 2023;
  • Present evidence of Physical and Medical fitness (from a Government Hospital);
  • Present evidence of Community Service;
  • Present evidence of sound human relations, professional competence, industry, integrity, efficient management of human and material resources;
  • Have occupied the position of Deputy Registrar for a period of not less than five (5) years in a Higher Institution of learning.

Terms of Appointment and Condition of Service

  • The Registrar shall hold office for a single tenure of five (5) years beginning from the date of appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
