Project Background
The Government of Niger State has applied for the financial assistance from the ISDB to reconstruct 82KM Minna-Bida road. This would increase on ridding quality, increase capacity of the road and link to the Federal roads (Minna-Lambatta-Suleja and Bida-Lambatta-Suleja).
The rationale of the Project includes the following:
- Increase movement of goods and services,
- Reduce accident rates,
- Revenue generation,
- Improve access to health facilities and
- Improve access to markets.
Project Components
Government of Niger State palns to reconstruct the existing Minna-Kataeregi-Bida in Niger State. The scope of the project includes:
- Reconstruction of existing carriageway
- Dualization of carriageway (82KM) with interchange at Minna and Bida terminals
- Construction of 2 Nox toll plazas with shopping arcade
- Construction of pedestrian bridges
- Construction of social development initiatives (schools, market, water points, health facilities); and
- Maintenance Programme and Capacity Building for Project staff.
The Objectives of the Assignment
- The Objectives of the assignment are to provide professional advice and management support to the SPMU to effectively implement the project. In order to achieve these objective, the SPMU staff would carry out, broad scope of project management activities
Duties
Duties includes but not limited to the following:
- Prepares ToRs and recruit engineering design and supervision form as the case may be
- Recruit contractors for the intervention site under guidance of the Procurement expert
- Monitors the day-to-day intervention site design and construction activities.
- Counter sign payment certificates after join measurement of works with the supervising consultant or Resident Engineer's representative
- Report on the progress of works
- Enures that intervention site redesign and amendments by consultant are carried out accordingly
- Provides advice to management on technical issues concerning the project
- Ensures that post Contraction maintain work is planned budgeted and carried out, documented and monitored accordingly, etc.
Qualifications
- Must be a Civil Engineer registered with NSE or COREN
- Must have above 10 years experience in supervising road construction Projects
- Experience in Multilateral Bank finance Project is an added advantage
- Excellent computer skills
