We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Accountant

Location: Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain the general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures.
  • Verify, allocate post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
  • Analyse financial information and summarize financial status.
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  • Preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual financial and management reports.
  • Ensure monthly close including delivery of management accounts.
  • Provide technical support and advice on the Management accounts.
  • Prepare profitability reports and provide analytical support to key functions including the Sales team, Marketing team, and Service Centre.

  • Prepare a monthly payroll schedule with journals for postings and payment.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Manage and supervise cashiers.
  • Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process.
  • Provide input into the department’s goal-setting process.
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Management of corporate tax responsibilities and assist with tax audits and tax returns and other regulatory returns.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Liaise with the Head of Finance to improve financial reporting procedures.
  • Liaise with the Head of Finance to prepare company budget and ensure budgets are strictly complied with.
  • Liaise with the Head of Finance to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Professional Qualifications such as ICAN, and ACCA is an added advantage.
  • 3 - 5 years experience.

Core Competencies:

  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Hands-on experience with accounting software
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience with general ledger functions
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
