The Institution The University of Abuja was established in 1988 by the Federal Government of Nigeria, with the governing law of University of Abuja Act, CAP. U2, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. The Act empowers the University to run dual-mode (the regular full-time and distance learning modes).
The University, which is strategically located at the Federal Capital Territory, has two (2) campuses and some Institutes and Centre's that require the regular attention of the University Bursar. At the moment, the University has twelve (12) Faculties, a College of Health Sciences, a Centre for Distance Learning and Continuing Education (CDL&CE), Institute of Education, among others. The "Vision" of the University of Abuja is: The development of an institution of higher learning that combines academic excellence with the pursuit of the unity of Nigeria through programmes of teaching and learning made available to all Nigerians and the deliberate balancing of admission and employment policies.
