Hobark International Limited (HIL) is the parent company of the Hobark group operating in the oil and gas industry. The company was incorporated in 1998, starting as a staffing agency based in Port Harcourt. Currently we have offices in 4 countries with our head office in Lagos.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Well Service Lead

Location: Lagos; However, the incumbent will spend 40 - 60 % of his time in the Fields
Job Type: Contract

Job Objectives

  • The primary objective of this service is to ensure that the Company’s well service operations are carried out safely with minimum deferment of production and at optimum cost.
  • The responsibility of the advisor extends to a wide range of surface and sub-surface activities.
  • The WSA (Well Service Advisor) will be involved in direct or indirect supervision, or supplying technical advice to related issues.

Operations:

  • Run and supervise all well service operations jobs including coil tubing and other intervention jobs.
  • Prepare, run and Test completion assemblies in Company’s wells and ensure correct installation of all completion equipment.
  • Ensure that properly maintained equipment is available at all times for wireline activities, This includes the winches, power packs downhole tools, pressure equipment, etc.
  • Ensure that regular preventive maintenance procedures for wireline units, wireline equipment, X-Mass trees and associated equipment is being carried out in due time and followed up with maintenance department or outside contractors.
  • To review rigless workover programs and inspect service companies equipment prior to job implementation.
  • Train company supervisors of all aspects of well service work, especially planning and failure analysis, also provide expert advice to supervisors and crews to improve work practices and solve problems.
  • Supervise directly all critical activities, including critical well intervention activities fishing, etc.
  • To develop preventative maintenance proposals in line with existing Company standards and good oilfield practice, also optimize testing intervals and techniques, taking due notice of past well history.
  • Ensure that all services are performed in a safe manner, to the required standard using good oilfield practice, and materials and equipment supplied will be free from defects and suitable for their intended purpose.
  • Ensure that all pressure control equipment [ e.g wireline lubricators, BOPs, stuffing boxes, Martin Decker cells, chains, pulleys ect ] are included in the test and inspection programs.
  • Ensure that all cranes and associated lifting slings and shackles are inspected and certified.
  • Ensure that sufficient spare parts are held to allow all types and quantities of equipment to be serviced at required intervals.

Planning:

  • To integrate all request from Production, Drilling, Petroleum Engineering Departments and Wellhead Maintenance Department for well activities in all oil fields and develop a monthly well service plan designed to optimize the use of wireline resources and to minimize deferred production, This plan forms the basis of a Integrated Operations Plan.
  • To collect and record data on downhole equipment performance to analyze problems and failure to identify root causes and make recommendations to prevent further loss.
  • To liaise with Drilling Department on testing and preparation of completion assemblies to ensure smooth operations once the well is handed back to Production Department.
  • To keep track of all ESP equipment inventories and assist in logistical handling with Support Groups.
  • To ensure the availability of appropriate wireline tools gas lift valves SCSSSV equipment and spare parts.
  • Provide a monthly summary report, showing all activities, progress against plan, downtime and cause, ineffective and lost time, and other information requested by the Company.
  • To record all activities and keep well files up to date of changes.
  • To review the existing well service procedures and provide updates of procedures to reflect current standard and work methods.

Safety And Environment:

  • Ensure Company Loss Control and Safety Procedures are observed by all staff engaged in well service work.
  • Together with Production Supervisor to liaise with PED when planning and implementing electric line and coil tubing operations to ensure safe and optimum coordinated work.
  • The minimum required working hours according to field schedule are 12hrs day, but working hours may be extended for urgent jobs that cannot be discontinued.
  • Ensure the environmental standards are observed by all staff and service companies engaged in well service work.

Skills Required
WSA will be selected on their experience and ability to carry out the above Scope of Work with

  • 20 years-worldwide international experience in on/offshore well services operations. Experience with gas lift systems and work in high deviated and horizontal wells is essential.
  • Experience in downhole completions.
  • Experience in compiling fishing programs and supervising fishing operations.
  • Experience in Wireline Unit Operations.
  • Full command of English language [ spoken and written ]
  • In depth knowledge of codes and standards for downhole tools as well as production wellheads and valves.
  • Experience in sour gas Wireline operations and related safety procedures.
  • Managerial qualifications to lead wireline and workshop crews.
  • Experience in planning of wireline and well services activities.
  • Experience in coil tubing operations.
  • Good knowledge of Weatherford expandable sand screens.
  • CV indicating training records and work history.
  • Fully conversant with modern PC software applications [MS word, excel, powerpoint].

Work Rotation:

  • Working a 6 week on 2 week off work cycle.
