Job Summary
- Our client is seeking to engage the services of a Senior Associate in Banking and Finance practice area of Law.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for Interpreting laws, ruling and regulations for banking and finance transactions as well as supporting the legal and advisory needs associated with a banking and finance portfolio.
Summarized Job Description
- Prepare Legal Opinion and Memorandum.
- Draft security documents including charge, mortgage, guarantee, debenture, pledge.
- Register documents at CAC, land registry, ship registry, collateral registry, etc.
- Advise on transaction structures and documentation for transactions.
- Advise on regulatory compliance for banks and other financial institutions.
- Collate and update records of CBN circulars, guidelines, and regulations.
- Write articles newsletters on regulatory and commercial developments relating to banking and finance.
- Advise on regulation of Fintech and start-up companies in the financial services industry.
- Advise on financial products, foreign exchange control and financial market.
- Advise on transaction structures and documentation for transactions.
- Participate in negotiating and finalizing all legal documentation relevant to transactions.
- Advise on regulatory compliance for banks and other financial institutions.
Person Specification
- Minimum of a BL / LLB (LLM is an added advantage).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a leading commercial law firm.
- Ability to market legal services and work proactively
- Minimum of 9 years’ post-call experience.
- Ability to multitask and fulfil duties and deadlines with minimum guidance.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
