Job Title: Senior Architect (Data Centres)

Location: Lagos

  • Our Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Data Centre team is well established and partners with some of the largest and leading Data Centre providers and users across the globe, ranging from Europe, Africa, Asia and the UK. We have offices and teams in The Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and South Africa.

Responsibilities
What you will do as a Senior Architect (Data Centres):

  • Fulfil role as discipline technical lead, with a particular focus on quality in delivery
  • Lead project design development where applicable / required
  • Create and/or modify existing architectural designs and models
  • Undertake Master Planning for Greenfields and Brownfield industrial developments, considering, among others, process and logistics flows
  • Undertake both design and BIM coordination
  • Prepare/assist with reports, technical drawings and specifications and tender documentation
  • Ensure that all quality system procedures are followed in the production and issuing of designs, costing, drawings and standard details at discipline level within the Advisory Group
  • Regular contact and communication with the architectural team
  • Guidance and mentorship to the architectural team
  • Inform the performance and development requirements for the architectural team members
  • Regular contact and communication with the DAG, ADAG and other discipline technical leads
  • Inform strategic growth requirements and initiatives for the architectural discipline
  • Ensure that work is done in accordance with acceptable standards of both Royal HaskoningDHV and its Clients
  • Engage with clients / external stakeholders with respect to architectural discipline on aspects including project delivery,
  • business development, client relationship management etc.
  • Undertake design and project management in alignment with Royal HaskoningDHV Digital Ways of Working (DWoW), and be a champion for the DWoW programme within the discipline and Advisory Group
  • Maintain records in accordance with internal quality system;
  • Other functions related to the discipline lead role that may arise.

  • You will become part of our global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team, who provide a multidisciplinary package of consultancy services for our datacenter clients. We provide strategic, tactical, and operational advice to our clients, including colocation data centres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. 
  • Our team consists of colleagues with all kinds of different expertise. For example, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, construction, civil, structure, building, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. Together we use our knowledge and expertise to develop integrated designs for Data Centres.  
  • You will join a leading market and work with a dedicated and passionate team ranked as one of the best Data Centre design & engineering teams globally. You will join the Industry & Buildings  Advisory Group, which forms part of our Nigeria entity. You will be based at our Lagos office. 

 Requirements
What you bring:

  • Bachelor of Architecture Degree
  • 10-15 years post-qualification experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment
  • Member of the Architect Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) is essential
  • Registration with Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA) is an advantage.
  • Experience managing architectural teams
  • Mentorship experience
  • Experience in Brownfields and Greenfields developments – focus on industrial and mission critical facilities
  • Appropriate knowledge of local and international standards and codes – focus on industrial and mission critical facilities
  • Experience working and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Experience working and collaborating in virtual team environment
  • Experience in master planning of industrial sites and buildings, incorporating process flows and logistics
  • BIM and Revit proficiency (advanced level) are mandatory and will be assessed. Certificates are beneficial
  • Knowledge of Dynamo, Python and other ways to automate workflows are highly beneficial
  • Experience with Common Data Environments and other relevant platforms
  • Ability to liaise with relevant stakeholders on all levels
  • In-depth experience and understanding of consulting business operations
  • Navisworks, Escape and Revizto plus Photo-shop capability is an advantage.
