Edufrica - WE are a reputable education multimedia startup in Abuja looking for a young and motivated individual to join our team of journalists covering news related to education, technology and entertainment.

We wish to fill the following position of:

Job Title: Social Media Manager

Location: Nationwide

Job Description
  • We want to hire a social media "guru" to manage our social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Forums and Google+.
  • The ideal candidate should be a team player and a self-starter. The job is flexible, which means you can work from home many days in a week, provided you get the job done. The salary is competitive.
  • You should be able/willing to work in Abuja or Jos in the next few years. We are happy to start with you working from Lagos/or another city in Nigeria for the next 1-2 years.
  • Please only apply if you meet the requirements OR can learn very fast. We will train you if we offer you a position. We will only contact those shortlisted for interview.
  • Responsibilities (will NOT necessarily do all these BUT should be able to):
  • Maintain a close working relationship with potential news sources, and update our team of reporters as news break
  • Work very closely with our team in managing our social media accounts
  • Engage readers on social media by responding to reader comments and pursing other avenues of interaction with audiences
  • Write articles, take photographs or shoot video as necessary to tell a story
  • Carry a camera equipped with still and video capabilities and be prepared to use it to create content for social media
  • Create online videos and post them to Youtube
  • Write a blog on a topic of choice
  • View and analyze social media analytics and suggest improvements to the team
Requirments
  • Be a self-starter. We are all busy and don’t expect to tell anyone to do their job
  • Be willing to coordinate with a team of reporters scattered in different cities
  • Have the ability to post breaking news
  • Must be able to write clearly and succinctly on a variety of topics, which may extend beyond the primary focus of his/her beat
  • Basic knowledge of web publishing tools and/or the ability to learn new technology quickly
  • Good knowledge of Adobe tools won’t hurt
  • Proficient used of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • BS/BA in news/media discipline or equivalent experience
  • Extensive work experience is not necessary required but he/she must be able to prove competency
