Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will report to the State Laboratory Lead, and shall assist with providing programmatic support and implementation of applicable laboratory services and the following tasks.
  • S/he will be responsible for the coordination of the laboratory logistics system for efficient quantification and supply of laboratory reagents and consumables.
  • S/he will coordinate the stock management and distribution of laboratory consumables and reagents at the state level.
  • Oversee the Lab. Logistics Remote Tracker, to support commodities availability in the supported healthcare facility level.
  • Be responsible for sample management - collection, processing, storage, and ensuring transportation within acceptable standards.
  • Ensure results are return within acceptable TAT and well documented.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in Medical Laboratory Science / Technology with related and applicable experience
  • A valid certificate to practice as Medical Laboratory Scientist mandatory.
  • At least 1-year post NYSC experience in managing laboratory supply chain management logistics preferably in the NGO context.
  • Assist with coordination and oversight on the functionality and optimization of laboratory services related activities across all States, healthcare facilities and communities.
  • Experience in laboratory services within the ART/OSS is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of supply chain data management systems an added advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to ensure that the highest standards of quality and client care are achieved.
  • Familiarity with professional standards and federal/state regulations affecting the laboratory and laboratory practices.
  • Prepare progress reports of laboratory activities, lab program implementation and lab quality issues.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.

Candidates are Expected to Possess:

  • Excellent personal communication skills, in written and verbal English, with high impact influencing and persuasive skills and able to represent the organization to donors and partners
  • Good experience of using Ms. Word, Excel or applicable software related to position
  • Commitment to and understanding of organization’s vision, values and principles including rights-based/gender approaches would be expected.
