Job Description

  • A purpose-built multi-specialty, tertiary care private hospital in Nigeria is looking for an HR Director who will partner closely with the Senior Leadership Team and with Clinical and Non-clinical Departments to lead on transformational initiatives across our newly established Hospital with the purpose of driving change, performance, and future growth of the business.
  • As the HR Director, you are the driving force on the HR Strategy whilst encouraging an organizational culture that supports effective behaviors and ways of working that demonstrates clear commitment to the Hospital’s vision and values.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a hands-on, strategic partner to the business while providing high quality leadership and oversight on the development and delivery on the Hospital’s People and HR Strategy.
  • Lead workforce planning activities to ensure optimal organizational structures are in place to support future focus, growth, scalability and employee satisfaction.
  • Partner closely with the broader operations team (Director of Operations, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer) to ensure our people operations programs, processes and systems align with our business goals.
  • As a member of the HR Leadership Team, work with the Group's HR network to drive and implement global initiatives at the Hospital such as Performance Management, Succession Management, Global Mobility, Leadership Development Program and Diversity & Inclusion initiatives.
  • Coach and mentor the Hospital Leaders to raise awareness around new ways of working and inspirational leadership to support cultural transformation.
  • Act as a change agent, continuously looking for innovations and efficiencies with regards to how we manage and motivate our people with the employee experience top of mind.
  • Develop and implement a holistic Employee Wellness program.
  • Develop a robust learning and development program, working with clinical and non-clinical leads.
  • Build an external pipeline of human capital resources, through partnerships with academic and higher learning institutions.
  • Build an internal pipeline of human capital resources, through rigorously implementing talent reviews and round table discussions with Heads of Departments to identify and develop HiPos for succession planning.
  • Collaborate with Global HR and Compliance to rollout Respectful Workplace policies and initiatives addressing all types of harassment and discrimination.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership team to resolve employee issues; provide coaching and counseling to management and staff; collaborate with legal counsel on issues as appropriate and in compliance with the requirements of the country.
  • Own the maintenance and evaluation of HR Systems related but not limited to performance management, Learning Management System (LMS), onboarding, compensation and benefits etc.
  • Demonstrate capacity to build and lead an effective and efficient HR team; guide, support and coach team members to instill a growth mindset.

Requirements
Required

  • The ideal candidate is a builder -- someone who can come in with a willingness and an ability to build the operations of the HR team from the ground up.
  • 10+ years of experience in HR with 5+ years in HR Leadership role; building and managing a team of direct reports in different functional areas in HR.
  • Experience owning HR Operations in a high growth, fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proven Coaching & Counseling skills with ability to support the Hospital CEO in building a high performance and collaborative Senior Leadership Team.
  • Expertise in the implementation and delivery of HR Information Systems.
  • Employment law compliance knowledge and hands on experience in resolving employee relations issues.
  • Workforce planning experience is a must
  • Analytical Expertise: proficient with data-driven analysis as it relates to People Analytics and Finance.
  • Compensation and Benefits background with a minimum experience in analyzing compensation and benefits data and working with salary data providers such as Mercer, Hay and Aon across Nigeria.
  • Exemplary communication ability, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively influence.
  • Change Management experience is an advantage.
