We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Program Officer - Malaria

Location: Abuja

Summary

  • The Program Officer- Malaria will work with the Senior Program Officer- Malaria and the Deputy Project Director – Malaria to support the day-to-day planning, implementation, and coordination of national and state level malaria SBCC activities which will cover community SBC, media activities and stakeholder capacity and system strengthening for malaria SBCC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • S/He will have primary responsibility for supporting the country office malaria team in the day-to-day coordination of malaria activities at national and state level.
  • Provide technical assistance to the project in the areas of malaria, social and behaviour change (SBC), capacity strengthening, community mobilization, social and mass media strategies and advocacy.
  • Work with the Malaria/TB unit to implement Malaria components of BA-Nigeria project.
  • Support national and state level coordination with governments, and NMEP implementing partners and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with the establishment and maintenance of effective relationships with NMEP, implementing partners, Federal and State MOHs and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist with coordinating with PMI partners in project states and at national level.
  • Provide support for training and capacity building activities targeted at BA-Nigeria project partners, heath service providers, community-based organization, community volunteers etc.
  • Provide support to the BA-Nigeria State Coordinators and state teams as required
  • Assist with the development and writing of timely program reports on a quarterly basis and disseminate program success stories, and other reporting duties as assigned.
  • Perform job duties/responsibilities in support of CCP’s Mission and Values, as appropriate.
  • Other duties as necessary and assigned by supervisors and BA-Nigeria Project Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an HND / Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Social Sciences or Health Sciences.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience on Malaria, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health programs, and at least 3 years working experience with SBC or demand creation.
  • 1 - 3 years’ experience working within the health sector and in related tasks.  
  • Well-organized, with ability to track multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in writing and editing letters, concept notes and reports is required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Packages and database software and applications
  • Strong communication skills (written & spoken) in English language is required.
  • Ability to travel within Nigeria and work successfully within a cross-cultural, multi-sectoral, multi-project team-based environment.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to initiate and implement activities with minimal oversight and supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to speak Hausa highly desired.
