Ignatius Ajuru University of Education was established by the University of Education Law No. 8 of 2009 of the Rivers State Government passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly on 15 October 2009 and assented to by His Excellency, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, the Executive Governor of Rivers State on 20 October 2009.

Job Title: University Librarian

Job Description
- The University Librarian is the Head of the University Library Services and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University Library and all Library Services in the University (i.e. the University Faculties, Departments and other teaching or research units).
Qualification
- The University Librarian should, as the academic Head of the University Library. hold a Ph.D. or Masters.
- Degree in Library Science (MLS) with at least fifteen (15) years post-qualification/cognate experience in the University Library system.
- He/she must have served for at least five (5) years at the position of Deputy Librarian.
- Evidence of research/scholarly publication in reputable journals is required.
- Candidate should show evidence of leadership in research, post-graduate supervision and administrative ability/competence.
- The candidate must also possess a record of good health.
- Knowledge and experience in computer application particularly in library automation, a-library and virtual library will be required.
Remuneration
Salary scale: UASS 15
Condition of Service
The conditions of service are the same, as those of similar Universities within the Rivers State Public Service. Please note that inline with the provision of the University Law, Principal Officers positions are of a period of five years and may be extended for another term of five years upon satisfactory performance.
