Search for Common Ground (SFCG) - Founded in 1982, Search for Common Ground (SFCG) works to transform the way the world deals with conflict away from adversarial approaches and towards collaborative problem solving. We work with local partners to find culturally appropriate means to strengthen societies&rs' capacity to deal with conflicts constructively: to understand the differences and act on the commonalities.

Search for common ground implementing the "Tomorrow is a new day" project with funding from European Union requires the service of a Women Advocacy Consultant and a Youth Advocacy Consultant to assist in the delivery of the advocacy aspect of the Tomorrow is a New Day Project. The Consultant will train the TND II project staff and supervise advocacy training in the target communities.

Purpose of the Assignment and Main Tasks

Under the supervision of the Project Manager of Tomorrow is a New Day, the consultant will develop and implement a full-fledged advocacy strategy for promoting the overarching advocacy objectives of TND II:
  • Review the Common Ground Advocacy training manual and adapt it to the context of the Niger-Delta.
  • Conduct Training of Trainers (TOT) for programme officers of SFCG and implementing partners in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
  • Supervise the step-down of the Advocacy training in target communities in Abia, Bayelsa, Delta and Rivers States
  • Deliver a comprehensive report at the end of the consultancy period detailing the review of the manual, trainings and outcomes of the training.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
  • Masters Degree in Gender studies, International Development, education or other field related to Gender equality.
Experience:
  • At least 7 years of working with International organizations, government agencies or NGOs of which, three (3) years' experience is on working on women and youth human rights issues.
  • Previous experience in Youth oriented projects will be an advantage.
