Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the process of developing the COP budget and work plans Manages the sourcing and efficient disbursement of funds from donors, managing bank accounts and overseeing money transfers between head offices, state offices, field offices, third parties and program beneficiaries, processing cheques, reviewing payrolls and other payments.
  • Track all expenditures against budget and ensure costs charged to an award are reasonable, allocable and allowable
  • Ensure timely recording of all accounting transactions in the General Ledger Bookkeeping and maintenance of accounting records that are at all times accurate, substantiated, up-to-date and sufficiently detailed
  • Responsible for the preparation of all donor-specific financial reports and management financial reports
  • Ensure the security, relevancy and applicability of Accounting software in use Ensure all relevant Government Acts, Rules, and Regulations like provision of taxation, Filling of Annual returns, withholding tax, Personal Income Tax etc. are followed
  • Implement relevant accounting standards, audit standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Practice
  • Implement all Financial and Accounting Policy Manual, Human Resources and Administrative guidelines to the extent applicable to finance & accounting.
  • Implement all donors and country-specific internal policy guidelines and coordinate financial reviews and audits.
  • Assisting and guiding the board by providing relevant financial information during budgeting, accounts to donors and other decision-making activities
  • Ensures that all financial transactions are properly documented and paid on a timely basis
  • Prepare and post payment vouchers into Tally 9 ERP software
  • Prepare and EFT upon due approvals
  • Assists in overall financial matters including timely retirements of expenses and completion of reports for the office and staff.
  • Assist in generating activity budgets and preparing cash float documentations.
  • Monitors the performance of all contracts entered for the provision of services, goods and works of the field office.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Degree or equivalent qualification in accounting and 4+ years relevant experience in an accounting role preferably in an International NGO setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and must be versatile with the use of computer and Tally ERP.
