The Role

• Our client has recently experienced rapid expansion, and the aspiration for more structured growth has necessitated the need for an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee our Client's ongoing operations and procedures.
• The COO role is a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting only to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The role holder will have to maintain control of diverse business operations, so the expectation is that they will be an experienced and efficient leader.
• The role holder must also possess excellent people skills, business acumen and exemplary work ethics.
• The goal of the COO position is to secure the functionality of business to drive extensive and sustainable growth while assuring excellent service delivery.

The Ideal Candidate

• A dynamic, pragmatic, motivating and creative leader, the COO will bring professional experience in people management, internal organisational management, and regulatory issues. The ideal candidates will bring well-rounded experience in
• multiple disciplines and the innate ability to lead and connect to deliver results. Equipped with excellent organisational, people management, and leadership abilities, s/he must be a self-starter, with a naturally collaborative and low-ego style.

They should also have:

• B.Sc / BA in Business Administration or relevant field; M.Sc/MBA and an engineering background is a plus.
• Proven experience as a Chief Operating Office or General Manager in a large organisation within the FMCG, Energy or similar industry.
• An understanding of business functions such as HR, Finance, Operations, Business Development etc.
• Demonstrable competence in strategic planning and business development
• Experience in fundraising will be a plus.
• Working knowledge of IT/Business infrastructure and relevant ERP systems
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills.
• Proven aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
• High learning agility from a production, logistic, manufacturing background with engineering or project management bias.
• Be experienced and capable of co-ordinating various units to deliver on company's objectives.

• Ability to quickly understand each unit's contribution to corporate objectives, come up with strategic KPIs that address each unit's key deliverable as well as set up a monitoring mechanism to drive compliance
• An energetic achiever who will not be fazed by long and unusual hours.
• An inwardly focused individual with keen attention to details and eye for operational efficiency.
