Albarka Health Spring Foundation (AHSF) is a non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 91613). Existing since October 2016, AHSF focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in Northeast Nigeria. AHSF operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its program principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population or increases vulnerability of population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Database Officer

Location: Sokoto
Department: Data Management
Reports to:Program Manager
Duration: 5 months with possibility of extension.

Role and Responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities:

  • The Database Officer is responsible for the organization, maintenance and updating of existing Databases and Management Information Systems (DMIS)
  • From time to time, she/he will generate data, data tables and reports in order to respond to program and donor reporting requirements, on schedule and as the need arises under the supervision of the Program Manager.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Biometric/Scope Registration activities and provide appropriate guidance and oversight in daily field activities in respect of UNICEF procedure and requirements.
  • Ensure the compliance with AHSF process and requirements.
  • Plan and follow related activities such as registration and distribution of Scope cards.
  • Ensure comprehensive project cycle management, with overall supervision of daily activities.
  • Ensure that M&E plan is established and implemented in liaison with the M&E officer.
  • Supervise and train registrars, project staff on Biometric online/offline system focusing on efficient planning, coordination, and implementation and monitoring of the project activities.
  • Participate actively in the monitoring of the project in collaboration with the M&E Officer with a specific attention on the efficiency of the biometric registration system.
  • Collaborate with related AHSF departments and other implementing partners to identify opportunities for integrated programming, promoting best practices and developing shared policy approaches.
  • Prepare and submit all Scope project internal and external donor reports.
  • Support the collection of GPS coordinates of  project site locations and the development of service maps.

Key Working Relationships

  • Internal: Entire AHSF staff.
  • External: Security institutions and other stakeholders.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in IT, Statistics, Social Sciences, or any closely related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in M&E, data management, qualitative and quantitative researches.
  • Advanced use of excel is essential.
  • Experienced in managing M&E Database including DHIS and NOMIS will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrable computer literacy in MS Office: Excel, Power Point and Word.

Desirable:

  • Experience in data analysis in Access and at least one of the following:ODK, CSPro, SPSS, EpiInfo or STATA is an added advantage.
  • Experience with Biometric registration.
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience with humanitarian program in a similar context.

Skill Abilities:

  • Fluency in spoken written English and Hausa language.
  • Multi-tasking skills.
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent (proven) interpersonal and both oral and written communication skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Experience of designing and co-ordinating training/meetings.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Good understanding of complex emergencies and crisis contexts.

  • Creative and takes initiative.
  • Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Willing to work additional hours at crucial times.
  • Team player.
  • Self-motivated person able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Effectively promote AHSF’s mission, values, and objectives.
  • Goal-oriented with the ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
  • Ability and willingness to work and live in challenging conditions.
