University Librarian at the Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru

The Federal University of Agriculture Zuru was established following the assent to its establishment bill by the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on 25 July, 2019 making it the fourth University of Agriculture in Nigeria situated in the Northwest region of the country. The University operates three Colleges with Ten (10) degree awarding programs in Agriculture, Basic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.

The Mandate of the University is to harness agricultural and livestock resources for human development and to promote contemporary agricultural technology and advances in Veterinary Medicine through the functional integration of information and communication technology in teaching, learning and research environment. The Vision of the University is to develop creative, innovative, research-oriented and competent human resource with enthusiasm to service and inspired entrepreneurship in agriculture and livestock resources.

Job Title: University Librarian

Location: Zuru, Kebbi

The Position

• The University Librarian is one of the Principal Officers of the University.
• He/She is the head of the University Library.
• The University Librarian is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library.

Qualifications
Candidates for the post shall:

• Possesses a good honours Degree not below second class Lower Division in Library Science / Library Information Science and Ph.D Degree in Library Science, Library Information Science or Computer Science Education from recognized University/Universities.
• Minimum of fifteen (15) years' experience in Library in an institution of higher learning at least five (5) of which must be in a University Library.
• Hold the rank of a Deputy University Librarian or a Reader in a University.
• Be a registered member of the Library Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN).
• Have published papers in professionally referred journals.
• Be computer literate proficient in relevant computer applications.

Salary and Condition of Service
The Salary and Condition of service for the post shall be as obtainable for the post of University Librarian in Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Council of the University.
