A reputable publicly quoted insurance company with its head office in Lagos, is recruiting successful, versatile, and highly experienced persons for the position below:

Job Title: Chief Compliance Officer

Location: Nigeria

Key Competencies and Responsibilities

  • Proven experience in managing compliance risk functions within the Insurance Industry.
  • Plan and design risk management processes and recommend controls in respect of identified compliance vulnerability and risks.
  • Design and continuous update of the Regulatory Universe, Compliance Risk Monitoring Program, and conduct Post Risk Acceptance documentation for risk mitigation
  • Draft and monitor reviews of the risk management and compliance policy. Review and assess the Company's control processes and policies to ensure compliance across all the departments of the Company.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory authorities (NAICOM, NFIU/EFCC CAC, SEC, NSE) and oversee the remittance/filling of regulatory returns.
  • Analyse statistical data and reports the identified compliance gaps and compliance issues.
  • Performing operational, financial and compliance audits through examination of financial and controls.
  • Ensuring that the company's business operations conform with both external and Internal laws and regulations and is not exposed to risks associated with non-compliance.
  • Enforcing compliance with global Know your Customer (KYC)/Customer Due Diligence (CDD) requirements and procedures across all operational locations.
  • Developing an extensive and efficient Anti-Money Laundering & Combating the Financing of Terrorism framework and policy and driving its adoption company-wide as well as reviews.
  • Develop and embed processes to ensure that all businesses are screened against the Sanctions list, document and maintain Sanctions Screening data.
  • Support in the implementation of compliance risk management and monitoring plan via quarterly Compliance Monitoring within the business.
  • Monitor changes within the business regulatory environment and advise the Management accordingly.
  • Creating AML/CFT compliance awareness and visit Branches to inspect level of compliance to regulatory demands. Acts as a designated Money Laundering Compliance/Reporting Officer (MLRO).
  • Design and deliver regulatory compliance program and trainings to support organizational risk management culture and Anti-Money Laundering/Countering of Financing Terrorism to the employees.
  • Develop regulatory compliance program, trainings (AML/CFT) and ensure that all employees and management are knowledgeable of and comply with NAICOM standard.
  • Provide quarterly reports to the Board/Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee as well as the management as it relates to compliance issues.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Law from a reputable institution (2:1) LLM/MBA is an added advantage Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ACIIN) Minimum of 10 years' experience in a Compliance Risk Management role within the Insurance Industry.
  • Possession of advanced skills in Microsoft Suites.

Candidate's Profile:

  • The ideal candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years cognate experience in the Insurance industry and not more than 40 years in age.
