Job Summary
- The Electrical Technician must have a good knowledge of Operational and Electrical Practices in an E&P Company.
- He is expected to have an in depth knowledge of offshore/swamp production engineering and operations.
- The candidate must be able to lead and manage multiple concurrent projects, work in a team environment, and be able to effectively communicate within and outside the company.
Job Description
- Carry out routine repair and maintenance of high-voltage power generation and distribution systems, motors, control systems and electrical equipment etc.
- Assemble and install electrical panels, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment.
- Conduct tests and assessments of new systems and repairs to ensure quality
- Perform preventative maintenance on a regular schedule.
- Respond quickly to all service requests and efficiently troubleshoot and repair electrical systems.
- Log all services and report progress to management Install new equipment and wiring to expand infrastructure as needed.
- Communicate estimated timelines for repairs to those impacted.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Carry out routine checks on all electrical components and fixtures.
Qualifications and Required Competencies
- Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation) with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division/Upper Credit.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in the oil industry with a proven track record of production and operations management.
- Must have worked at senior level in a similar position for at least eight (8) years in a reputable E&P Company.
- Must have experience to repair defective components in motors, generators, controller, storage batteries, switch boards and other electrical fixtures.
- Familiar with code requirements and company safety regulations.
- Must have a proven ability to plan/lead projects and must be able to work under pressure.
- Proficient with manual and power tools.
- Champion the enforcement of standards and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Assist and support HSES teams in ensuring compliance to HSSE Policies and procedures at Company's locations.
- Must have competencies to prepare daily electrical and operations reports.
- Must have a proven ability to plan / lead projects and must be able to work under pressure.
- Must be result oriented and committed to company goals.
