Job Summary
- The Mechanical Technician must have a good knowledge of Operational and Mechanical Practices in an E&P Company. He is expected to have an in depth knowledge of offshore /swamp production engineering and operations.
- The candidate must be able to lead and manage multiple concurrent projects, work in a team environment, and be able to effectively communicate within and outside the company.
- Must have worked at supervisory level in a similar position for at least eight (8) years in a reputable E&P Company.
Job Description
- Responsible for valves, pumps and transmission systems, diesel engines and gas turbines.
- Optimize the performance of mechanical products, machinery, and equipment.
- Responsible for the repair and maintenance of valves, pumps, and transmission systems of diesel engines and gas turbines etc.
- Carry out routine checks on all mechanical and industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve motor pump, conveyor, hydraulic, mechanical and other industrial equipment problems.
- Maintain Company machinery and run diagnostic tests on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop and implement mechanical maintenance plans to prevent equipment breakdowns.
- Troubleshooting mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as carry out routine repairs and maintenance.
- Monitor the availability of parts and replenishing supplies.
- Maintain a tidy work environment and ensure strict adherence to standards and industry regulations.
- Analyze machine test results and make adjustments to meet Company specifications.
- Devise preventative measures to avoid machine downtime. Champion the enforcement of standards and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
- Assist and support HSES teams in ensuring compliance to Safety and Security Policies and procedures at Company's locations.
Qualifications and Required Competencies
- Minimum of Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering or in a core engineering discipline (Electrical or instrumentation) with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division/Upper Credit.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in the oil industry with a proven track record of rotating equipment support.
- Must have worked at supervisory level in a similar position for at least eight (8) years in a reputable E&P Company.
- Must have competencies to prepare daily mechanical and operations reports.
- Must be capable of applying production, operational, Mechanical engineering and management principles to resolve mechanical problems and optimize hydrocarbon production enhancement opportunities.
- Proficiency in mechanical design and diagnostic testing software.
- Must be result oriented and committed to company goals.
- Must have a proven ability to plan/lead projects and must be able to work under pressure.
- Must have strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to work in a multidisciplinary and multi-tasking team.
