Job Title: Drilling Engineer

Job Summary

  • The Drilling Engineer must have a good knowledge in drilling. completions and well engineering practices to provide support to company's operations from the initial design to delivery of a well to production.

Job Description

  • Responsible for executing the appropriate procedures for well drilling projects.
  • Prepare drilling program and performing all aspects of drilling engineering works for the successful, cost effective and safe implementation of drilling activities.
  • Direct and supervise the on-site work of the drilling contractor and service companies through consultation with senior Drilling Engineer.
  • Communicate and interface with relevant internal and external parties to ensure that drilling programs and operation are carried-out out as per approved plan.
  • Prepare and provide the basic requirements for the scope of works and technical specifications for tender packages to be in line with project requirements and meet the minimum cost concept and HSE requirements.
  • Provide immediate and effective solutions for operational continuity, equipment malfunctions and other onsite problems.
  • Prepare the technical specifications for drilling equipment and services required for field development in consultation with department concerned.
  • Ensure that drilling operations comply with statutory and regulatory requirements, with respect to health and safety and emergency procedures.
  • Monitor day-to-day rig operations during drilling and completions operations.
  • Liaise with project partners, such as geologists and drilling. contractors etc, in order to keep up-to-date on all developments that may have an impact on drilling activities.

Qualifications and Required Competencies

  • B.Sc in Petroleum Engineering required, preferably in Drilling.
  • A Master's Degree in any of the relevant Engineering disciplines will be an added advantage.
  • At least 6 years' experience in offshore and onshore activities and various engineering work including experience in drilling operations.
  • Knowledge on well completion work would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in using Landmark's software, Microsoft Office. Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a Committed, Integrated and knowledgeable approach in the work place.
  • Must have ability to plan and lead projects and must be able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to prepare work schedules and comprehensive drilling plans to meet project objectives and deadlines.
  • Must be capable of working seamlessly with geosciences, production and reservoir groups in executing drilling/operations engineering solutions.
