OppApp is a new early-stage Educational technology (EdTech) and Service Provider startup based on an ambitious & exciting, yet realistic product vision. Africa is the world's youngest continent and expanding the fastest. The number of young people working in Africa will rise to 375 million by 2030. The International Monetary Fund estimates that by 2035, there will be more young Africans joining the workforce each year than there are in the rest of the world put together due to population growth on the continent. The number of young individuals looking for work is much higher than the number of opportunities that are open to them. The skills of young people entering the workforce and the needs of companies are also out of sync.

Job Description

  • The individuals who will be hired for this position will be given a significant amount of equity given that the company is at ideation stage.
  • The person is fully remote.
  • The company is in its pre-seed with interest from few VCs once an MVP is made and possible grants from NEAR protocol.
  • We are at a critical stage in our growth and have an urgent need for a Chief Commercial Officer. Ideally, we want someone with previous startup experience who has experience in all phases of the design process.
  • We are looking for someone to join our Executive Team as our Chief Commercial Officer reporting to our CEO, who is passionate about helping organizations win and bringing out the best in people.
  • We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual to build out the revenue, revenue operations, and partnership verticals. The Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for developing the go-to-market strategy for an emerging alternative fuel. A successful candidate will have the ability to lead, not just manage a group of cutting-edge scientists, engineers and extremely high performing individuals.
  • They are looking for a passionate, high-energy executive with high-level expertise in the workforce development/professional skills, who can demonstrate they've committed to and achieved ambitious business outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position will play a key role in developing a robust sales pipeline and spearheading the company's strategy as it carves out a place in the broader energy mix. This position is ideal for someone with startup experience or someone that has sold traditional and/or emerging energy products to diverse industries/use cases!

  • Lead and build the Business Development, Strategy, Technology Licensing, Government Relations, and Sales teams.
  • Develop new and existing members of your team into future leaders of the company.
  • Plan and execute a go-to-market strategy for multiple product lines
  • Oversee and build a robust pipeline of new target accounts, partnerships, and other qualified opportunities while being responsible for the complete sales cycle
  • Work with the leadership team and Finance on annual and multi-year planning cycle, revenue targets, headcount, resource allocation, quotas, compensation, and other planning needs
  • Represent company at trade shows, events, and other speaking engagements
  • Work cross-functionally with technical teams to provide market feedback

Requirements
Our Ideal Chief Commercial Officer Will:

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree or Higher Degree qualification.
  • Will have 10+ years of strategic technical sales/business development experience with a proven record of revenue generation over multi millions
  • Have experience a proven people manager and highly skilled in coaching and developing Directors and structuring the broader team for growth.
  • Be Self-motivated: You are a self-starter with great business judgment and acumen with a "take ownership" outlook
  • Strategize, build and execute complex business development with localization into new market segments
  • Work closely with the Chief Marketing Officer to create agile commercial processes to.
  • Building out and implementing OKRs to align to significant corporate growth.
  • Direct ownership for annual key accounts strategy and delivery plan.
  • Recruit key leadership, fostering a motivated high-performance team.
  • Engage enterprises in new partnerships to drive revenue.
  • Creating process that formalizes the relationship of B2B2C funnel

Requirements:

  • Impressive executive experience in workforce development/professional skills market
  • Demonstrable capabilities in business development and forming enterprise partnerships
  • Ability to effectively build and manage processes, tools and systems.
  • Rapid funding round progression - Series B-IPO.
  • Experience building and managing relationships with Fortune-500 clients in US.
