The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) - Kogi State is one of the nine newly established Federal Universities in Nigeria. The University was established in February 2011 and it commenced academic activities in the 2012/2013 session. FUL is located in Lokoja, Kogi State, Central Nigeria, about 160 kilometres from Abuja, the nation's capital. It is a conventional University that intends to excel in its academic and research activities to compete with other universities worldwide.

Job Description
  • The Director of Physical Planning and Development Department is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the physical development of the University.
  • He/she is responsible for the coordination and supervision of physical development projects; ensures quality and standard of structures in the University through proper advice and liaison with relevant bodies involved in the construction of all structures of the University; and ensures proper preparation of tender documents for the University.
  • The Director must be a person of high integrity and demonstrate transparency in public and private life as well as command the respect and loyalty of staff of the University.
  • He/she must also be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them into new projects in line with the phased physical development plans of the University.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate for this post shall:
  • Possess a good honours degree from a recognized University in Building, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field or a Master's degree in Architecture from a recognized University with not less than sixteen (16) years cognate experience, eight (8) years of which must be unbroken service in the University system or similar institution of higher learning;
  • Candidate must have attained the position of Deputy Director or its equivalent in a University system or similar institution;
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body such as ARCON, COREN, QSRBN, CORBON, etc.
  • Candidate must also be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications.
Conditions of Service
The conditions of service attached to the position of Director, PP&DD are as obtainable in Federal Universities in Nigeria. The salary and allowances are as applicable to officers on CONTISS 15. Other benefits to the holder of the office are as stipulated in the letter of appointment. The tenure of the office of the Director, Physical Planning and Development Department is five (5) years.
