Job Title: Electrical Technician

Location: Ikoyi, Lagos

Reports To:Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary

  • Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of all machinery, Generators, Kitchen equipment, and engineering facilities. Also, to ensure that there is no breakdown of the engineering systems and inspects the working condition of equipment and ensure that all standards are maintained on regular basis.

Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Control:

  • Troubleshoot/maintain mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems/subsystems including control/balancing these systems;
  • Diagnose causes of electrical and mechanical problems or failures for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair
  • Inspect electrical systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Install electrical system components (e.g. Lighting, alarms, electrical panels, switches, circuits, scoreboards, timers, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities.
  • Repair electrical components and/or systems (e.g., motors, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, intercom systems, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe working conditions.
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after office/school hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problem, replace or repair part, test and making adjustment.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Use of a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and materials handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, and defective materials and report those and any unusual situation to the supervisor.

Routine and Checks:

  • To carry out the full operation test of all Generator Sets. Conduct daily inspection and house-keeping of all generators, weekly load testing, and recording of all readings
  • Completion of preventive maintenance of electrical equipment (E.g., moisture, dirt, loose connections, short circuits, and poor insulation could result in a build-up of heat and fire)
  • Checks on all electrical appliances to ensure switching off when not in use.
  • Checks on electrical problems if reported and corrected? (E.g., shocks, flickering lights, buzzing sounds, the smell of burning, arcs, dim lights, sparks, sizzling sound, presence of soot, warm electrical equipment, and receptacle plates, etc.?
  • Check if tools used to repair electrical installations are insulated: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.?

Requirements

  • Education: National Diploma in Electrical Engineering related trades. Along with certification in related fields.
  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience working as multi-skilled technical personnel in a service industry.
