Job Title: Team Lead (Public Sector Banking)

Role Summary

• The Team Lead, Public Sector Banking will be responsible for developing new relationships with the public sector and analyzing sector opportunities, with a focus on winning new mandates and clients within their areas of jurisdiction.

Role Responsibilities

• Contributes towards the achievement of established marketing goals/objectives through implementation of marketing strategies and plans within the assigned area of jurisdiction.
• Engage senior management and decision makers of key clients to improve the quality of dialogue with clients, promoting a move away from 'transactional' reactive client coverage to consistent value-added partner/trusted advisor status. Anticipate
• clients' needs and provide strategic advice, bringing in the relevant product and industry partners as appropriate
• Generate leads and identify new business opportunities
• Manage and deepens existing relationships with existing and prospective customers.
• Market the bank’s products to meet customer needs
• Actively supporting the team’s client retention strategies by providing excellent service to customers.
• Serve as the primary daily service contact for the clients
• Track and maintain customer data/information
• Ensure efficient service and maintenance of existing customers
• Interface with relevant Business Units to resolve challenges facing Public Sector customers.

Qualifications

• First Degree or its equivalent in any discipline preferably Business-related.
• Credit Risk Assessment and Analysis skills, relationship management and networking skills, excellent business writing and presentation skills.
• Good knowledge of Basic Accounting and Financial Analysis, Business Law, Business/Financial Advisory services, Banking Operations, Leasing, Trade Services, Laws and regulations relating to Banking.
• Professional Accounting certification, e.g. CIBN, ACA, ACCA, or other relevant higher business degree as an added advantage
• 10 years relevant banking experience in sales and credit of which at least four must be related to the Public Sector.
• Good understanding of economic trends and implications on the banking/finance sector.
• Ability to identify and analyze problems and to think strategically to anticipate, interpret and develop strategic responses to issues
• Strong leadership and people management skills
