Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) was established in 1998 as a non-governmental Organization to serve as a collective voice of PLHIV in the Country. The Organization is registered with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in Nigeria in September 2004.  NEPWHAN is now Seventeen (17) Years Old as a vibrant patient community network in Nigeria. The network formed since 1998 has established structures at the zonal and all States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and as well saddled with the responsibility of coordinating, supervising and monitoring activities and programs of over 1, 030 support groups membership across the Federation making it one of the biggest Patient network in Africa.

Our goal NEPWHAN has formed constituent bodies; Association of Youth Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (APYIN), Association of Women Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (ASWHAN), Association of Religious Leaders Living with and Personally Affected by HIV/AIDS (NINERELA+) to advocate and provide HIV programming intervention for the specific needs of their targets and members.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Grant / Compliance Officer

Job Description

  • This position is located in the National Office and the Grants/Compliance Officer serves as a lead team member in developing and writing grant proposals to foundations, donors and government agencies in order to obtain funding for NEPWHAN activities, and be responsible for compliance with and dissemination of sponsored agency programmatic policies, guidelines, rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Effort Allocation: Grant Management Function: 90%
  • Compliance Function: 10%

The Grant/Compliance Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • This role is responsible for writing, developing and implementing grant proposals. Coordination typically includes the development and writing of grant proposals.
  • Facilitates grant efforts, including grant approval process and post-award compliance. Ensures timelines are met.
  • Monitors post-award grant compliance. Follows up with funding agencies as necessary.
  • Acts as a Grants Office liaison to community organizations, government agencies and the teams involved with the development and administration of projects and proposals.
  • Researches information and data necessary for grants and grant reporting.
  • Edits and organizes grant documents written by other staff
  • Develops outlines, timelines, staffing, budgets, and NEPWHAN templates for grants according to funding guidelines.
  • Facilitates workshops for and provides technical assistance to other staff, department, administrators, and teams in the area of grant writing, development, compliance and support.
  • Works as a team with other Grants Office staff in performing grants office activities and assist NEPWHAN with obtaining and maintaining external funding.
  • Researches new funding opportunities available through local, state, and federal government agencies, as well as through private and corporate foundations.
  • Reads and interprets requests for proposals and funding guidelines from government agencies and foundations to determine if appropriate for college and how best to respond and comply.
  • Disseminates information on funding opportunities and compliance requirements to PMT members.
  • Monitors outstanding grant proposals. Follows up with funding agency as necessary.
  • Maintains necessary records, files, reports, databases, and resource materials pertinent to Grants Office activities.
  • Identify internal constraints which undermine compliance within NEPWHAN’s programme and operations and propose corrective measures, review the current approaches available on assessing, measuring and mitigating risks.
  • Any other relevant duties as may be assigned by the National Coordinator

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess a B.Sc / HND but a Master’s Degree in Communications, English, Public or Business Admin or an equivalent University Degree is desirable
  • A certification in Project Management will be an extra advantage.
  • At least five years of experience as a grant officer in an NGO or INGO
  • Demonstrated experience writing grant proposals and reports to both government and private funding sources.
  • At least 3 years’ experience coordinating grant development teams.
  • At least 3 years’ Experience researching and identifying funding sources and requirements.
  • At least 3 years’ Experience interpreting requests for proposals, reporting cycles and funding guidelines. Experience developing and monitoring budgets.
  • Experience with an international or multilateral organization is desirable.
  • Knowledge of donor regulations including UNAIDS, The Global Fund and/or other foreign government development agencies, and other multilateral development agencies.
  • Ability to negotiate/support negotiations effectively with donors, troubleshoot issues, and take proactive approaches to improving financial and budget management processes.
  • Ability and willingness to flex work hours to accommodate multiple time zones, as needed.
