Job Summary

  • We are looking for an experienced social innovator and inclusion-driven Country Director to inspire, oversee and execute our organisation-wide vision for 2026. Applicants must evidence a minimum of 4 years of experience in the development/NGO/civic sector working on grant writing, profit growth and measurable social impact.
  • The successful candidate will be the face of the organisation, representing the team at stakeholder meetings, conferences and development programmes. He/She is responsible for obtaining and evaluating information about industry and policy trends on ESG—threats and possible business opportunities. In addition, the offers an opportunity to scale the impact of inclusive development in Africa, while designing strategies for financial sustainability and growth. Applicants MUST be passionate and familiar with global inclusion policies and conversations relevant to giving the proper strategic direction and implementing a high-quality vision.
  • The goal is to manage and lead the organisation towards the realisation of our mission—to be leaders in research and conversations on inclusive development in Africa. Successful applicant reports directly to the CEO and the organisation’s board.

Job Description
Lead. Scale. Inspire.

  • Develop and implement strategies aiming to promote our mission to be leaders in inclusive development research, dialogues and research.
  • Manage the Salt House Business portfolio—draft business proposals, co-design training resources, and develop and facilitate audits, training and consultancy.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify grant opportunities,  draft grant proposals and secure sponsorships for our portfolio programmes.
  • Build an effective team of leaders by providing guidance and coaching to co-managers to achieve collective objectives.
  • Ensure adherence to the organisation’s daily activities, deliverables and long-term plans to established policies and legal guidelines.
  • Leading organisation-wide collaboration for fundraising campaigns, and positioning Salt House for financial success.
  • Forge and maintain relations of trust with shareholders, partners, clients and government authorities.
  • Oversee the managers of each department in the organisation and represent their interests when reporting to the board of directors.
  • Review reports by subordinate managers to acquire an understanding of the organisation’s financial and non-financial position.
  • Works with the board to plan, create, and implement programs and activities to ensure we achieve organisational goals and mission for the continent.
  • Monitor all internal communication and control to ensure the organisation complies with its fiduciary duties, financial plans, financial audits, and tax filing. 

Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor's Degree in relevant field.
  • 4+ years in development sector —NGO/Social Enterprise Management.

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of inclusive development, SDGs and emerging sustainability theories and practices.
  • Proven work experience as a Non-Profit Executive Director or Strategic Business Development professional.
  • Experience running fundraising campaigns and  initiatives, engaging with multiple stakeholders and
  • Knowledge of people recruitment and how to get individuals involved to achieve collective organisational success.
  • Strong knowledge of financials and how to build financial forecasting documents for the board of directors.
  • Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills. The ability to leverage communication technology tools such as Microsoft 365 is preferable.
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Non-Profit Executive Director.
  • Relationship building, leadership and stakeholder management.

Desirable Skills:

  •  Experience in contributing to building revenue and expense budgets, forecasting and resource development
  • A successful track record of working with high-performing staff teams and creating positive workplace environments.
  • Professional use of ICT systems such as Microsoft 365 Suite, Mailchimp, Zoho and Client Management Softwares.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and engaging effective non-profit boards
  • Experience in leading productive communications and group facilitation which include expression of conflict and passion, employee development, assessment and coaching, matrix management and decision making.
  • Must demonstrate superior skills in gaining the trust and confidence of a wide range of people, providing strong leadership and influence.
