Job Title: Security Operative

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Reporting: The Security Head

Job Role

  • The School Security Operative is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors in a school setting.
  • The primary role is to prevent and respond to incidents that may disrupt the educational environment, such as theft, violence, or vandalism.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling access to the school building with the use of metal detectors, ID scanners, or security cameras to ensure that only authorized personnel are allowed on the premises.
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors from emergencies such as a fire, natural disaster and violent incident.
  • Coordinate with local emergency res-ponders, evacuate the building, or provide first aid to those in need.
  • To patrol the school campus to detect and prevent criminal activity. This can be done by walking the halls, check exterior doors and windows, and monitor security cameras to identify potential threats.
  • Responsible for maintaining order and discipline in the school environment.
  • To enforce school policies, such as dress codes and student conduct codes, and intervene in conflicts between students or staff.
  • To work closely with school administrators to identify potential security threats and implement strategies to improve school safety.
  • To provide regular reports on security incidents or conduct training sessions for staff and students.

Key Performance Indicators
The Key Performance Indicator for the Security Operatives include:

  • Safety incident rate: This KPI measures the number of safety incidents on school property, such as theft, vandalism, or violence. A school district might set a goal of reducing the incident rate by a certain percentage, and track progress through incident reports and surveys.
  • Response time: This KPI measures how quickly security operatives respond to a safety incident or emergency. A school district might set a goal of responding within a certain amount of time, and track response times through incident reports and employee evaluations.
  • Access control: This KPI measures the effectiveness of access control measures, such as ID scanning or security cameras, in preventing unauthorized access to the school property. A school district might set a goal of reducing the number of unauthorized individuals on school property by a certain percentage, and track progress through security incident reports and security camera footage.
  • Compliance with regulations: This KPI measures the security operatives' adherence to local, state, and federal regulations for school safety and security. A school district might set a goal of achieving a certain score on a safety or security audit, or of having zero safety code violations.
  • Training and development: This KPI measures the ongoing training and development of security operatives.
