Job Title: Recovery Officer

Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Brief

• We are recruiting to fill the position of Loan Recovery Officer who would be responsible for the administration and recovery of debts from clients.

Work Duties

• Monitor overdue and defaulted debts daily to provide an update or recommendation to the upper manager timely.
• Ensure compliance with the company credit Policy and Procedures regarding the management of the debt recovery process.
• Maintain and prepare monthly collections reports, updates, and status.
• Respond to clients’ complaints, and queries and escalate unresolved cases for supervisors’ review and advice.
• Maintain a consistent reduction of non-performing debts through aggressive recoveries and viable restructuring options.
• Initiate demand and reminder letters to all defaulting customers and review all credit files for proper documentation and monitoring.
• Ensure effective compliance standards are consistently met with both internal and external regulatory requirements by working closely with legal departments.
• Develop and continuously review credit policies and procedures ensuring their compliance.

Job Requirements / Qualification & Background

• Degree in Accounting or any related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a banking environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be very organised in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• High self-motivation with strong interpersonal skills.
• Must have the ability to motivate and persuade others, particularly delinquent clients to repay debts.
• Ability to meet and exceed monthly and quarterly quotas and deliverables.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to communicate with local authorities and legal professionals in an appropriate manner.
• Demonstrate a high level of ethical commitment and trustworthiness.
