Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Objective

  • We are seeking the services of an experienced Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for managing all costs and risks relating to the company's projects while still achieving the required legal standards and quality. This includes ensuring statutory building regulations are met.

Responsibilities

  • Review architectural plans and prepare quantity needs.
  • Prepare cost analysis based on engineering estimates, architectural drawings, materials required and labor involved.
  • Preparing budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.
  • Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
  • Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly.
  • Liaises with suppliers and contractors to get proposals/quotations and carry out evaluation.
  • Managing project budgets and cash flow projections, ensuring that costs are kept within budget.
  • Conducting risk assessments and providing advice on the commercial implications of decisions made during the construction process.
  • Managing the payment process, including valuing completed work and issuing payment certificates.
  • Site visits, assessments and projections for future work;
  • Forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project.
  • Forecast price trends and their impact on future activities.
  • Give presentations about market analysis and possible growth.
  • Advise on a materials procurement strategy.
  • Ensuring that all project-related documentation is accurately recorded and filed.
  • Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers, project managers and site engineers.
  • Conducting post-project evaluations and producing reports on the project’s financial performance.
  • Undertake cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
  • Analyse outcomes and write detailed progress reports.
  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring communication and escalating all issues of relevance.
  • Any other duties as may be given by management

Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying from a reputable university.
  • Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Quantity Surveying experience with a reputable Company.
  • Candidate must be a certified member of NIQS, QSRBN and other Professional bodies.
  • In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and Construction Costing Softwares
  • Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports.
  • Core Quantity Surveying measuring skills.
  • Knowledge of financial and budgetary processes.
