Sheriff Aid Foundation (SAF) is a national humanitarian and developmental organization that is non-profit; non-governmental and non-political currently active in the north-eastern Nigeria. SAF was founded in February 2007 and formally registered with Corporate Affairs Commission Nigeria in August 2018 with the aim to improving the life of vulnerable and less privileged focusing on children and women through protection, education, livelihood improvement, food security as well as strengthening the resilience of the affected population due to conflict and natural disaster especially those in the rural areas.

SAF activities are integrated with focus on education, camp coordination and management, provision of shelter and NFIs, waste management, food security, skills acquisition training, awareness creation, networking and, community involvement and participation. Our activities are mainly carried out through grassroots mobilization and networking. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Shelter and NFI Assistant

Location: Ngala and Kalabalge, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Description 
The Assistant shelter officer shall be engaged in the following activities of the organization:

  • Participate in providing a detailed work plan including the schedule of activities for construction and distribution of the Emergency Shelter Kits.
  • Conduct Needs Assessment for Emergency Shelter Kits in the specified project area.
  • Conduct Beneficiary Selection, registration and token card distribution
  • Organize meeting with the targeted communities’ leaders (religious leaders, IDP representatives), Government agencies and the sector.
  • Verify the lists of beneficiaries provided by the representatives or collected by the field team by the team through field visits and to ensure compliance with vulnerability criteria.
  • Establish the list when feasible, by the staff in collaboration with partners working in the location.
  • Sharing of reports of the need’s assessment and registration exercise within one week of completion.
  • Conduct Thorough sensitization work
  • Distribution Process of the Shelter kits
  • Making the updated registration list ready before distribution or construction day.
  • Transporting the Emergency Shelter (ES) Kits to distribution site or sites.
  • Identification and booking storage facility/area before delivery and agree with the local authorities and community leaders.
  • Consult with the local authorities and community members to inform them and decide on the distribution site.
  • Verification of the beneficiaries by asking them to confirm their names using the coded tokens/registration cards, to confirm them against the registration list.

Qualification

  • The Assistant Shelter Officer should have a minimum qualification of Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Survey or any other relevant field of study.

Experience:

  • Applicant should have at least 3 years of working experience with reputable organization in similar position.
