Job Description

  • The legal associate will be responsible for providing compliance, documentation, and operations support for the ministry of finance incorporated. In addition, the Associate will work with the Compliance team to meet its obligations and build regulatory relationships with the apex regulator.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the organization on a range of legal matters, including contract negotiations, litigation, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Draft and review legal documents, such as contracts, policies, and agreements, under the supervision of the Legal Counsel.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to identify legal issues and risks and provide guidance to the organization on potential legal implications of business decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist in managing outside counsel relationships and oversee their work as needed.
  • Participate in due diligence and other legal aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
  • Assist in managing legal disputes and investigations.
  • Provide legal training and awareness programs to employees on legal matters.
  • Perform legal administrative tasks, such as maintaining legal files and calendars, preparing legal correspondence, and organizing legal documents.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB), Barrister at Law (Nigerian Law School). Possession of MBA is advantageous.
  • 4-6 years proven work experience.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the asset management industry, ideally with experience in closed-ended products.
  • Commercial awareness, a sound understanding of the business environment.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills
