We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Import / Export Documentation Officer

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Import / Export Documentation Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all necessary import and export documents are prepared accurately and in a timely manner, in compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
  • The role will involve liaising with various stakeholders, including shipping companies, customs brokers, government agencies, and internal departments, to ensure smooth and efficient import and export operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process import and export documents, including invoices, bills of lading, customs declarations, packing lists, and certificates of origin, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, such as shipping companies, customs brokers, and government agencies, to ensure timely clearance and delivery of goods.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and suppliers regarding shipment status, documentation requirements, and any issues or delays.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all import and export activities, including shipment details, documentation, and compliance with regulations.
  • Monitor and report on changes in import and export regulations and policies that may affect the company's operations.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed, and that all deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to documentation or shipments, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a satisfactory resolution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of experience in import/export documentation and logistics, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, including customs procedures, tariffs, and licensing requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office and logistics management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential. Additional language skills would be an advantage.
