Major Accountabilities of Position
  • HAZOP and HAZID leadership
  • Project management, production of project deliverables on time and to budget
  • Preparation of proposals, man hour estimates
  • Negotiate contracts with clients
  • Preparation of, and management of, both Qualitative and Quantitative Risk
  • Assessments, including fault tree and event tree analyses, hazard identification, FMECA techniques, risk ranking.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of methods, access to databases and access to appropriate software.
  • Lead a project team of Risk, Safety and Loss Prevention Engineers
  • Provide guidance to, and training of junior engineers in the preparation of their work.
  • Provide guidance and development of Junior and Graduate Engineers
  • Safety - Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices for the Business Unit. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
  • Quality Assurance - Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Business Unit
Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related degree

Job Specific Knowledge:
  • Ability to manage projects, HAZOP and HAZID leadership. Management and preparation of Offshore and Onshore Safety Cases, and production of QRA’s; Knowledge of applicable International safety codes and legislation; Presentation skills
Industry Specific Experience:
  • At least 5 years direct risk & safety experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • FPSO and Subsea engineering experience will be an added advantage.
HSE Capability:
  • Commitment to safe working practices and ability to promote safety consciousness within the department
IT Skills:
  • Proficiency in the use of general computer softwares such as MS Office, MathCAD, PHAST, FRED, etc.
People Skills:
  • Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate in English and take a leadership role over the group for which they have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Commitment to customer service and ability to assist others in applying knowledge and understanding in solving functional problems within area of expertise; Ability to maintain confidential information critical
Other Relevant Information:
  • Willingness to travel or to accept field assignments preferred. Ability to work effectively in teams
