College Librarian at FCT College of Education

The FCT College of Education, Zuba was born out of a recommendation submitted by a  committee set up in 1996 by the Minister of FCT to work out modalities for the establishment of a College of Education. The College was established to provide qualitative teacher education geared towards meeting the present challenges facing the Nigerian educational system especially in the area of training teachers in the Science and Nigerian Languages to teach at the Primary Schools.

Job Title: College Librarian

Location: Abuja

Duties

• The College Librarian has the responsibility for administering the College library and providing Library services to the entire College Community.
• He/she is responsible to the Provost of the College.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess minimum of a Master's Degree in Library Science from a recognised University.
• He/She should have at least 20 years relevant experience in College of Education system.
• Candidates must be Computer literate and familiar with the operation of computerized library services.
• Candidates must show evidence of active research publications supported by substantial number of scholarly publications in both local and international journals.
• Candidate must have worked at the level of Chief Librarian for not less than five (5) years
• Candidates must have evidence of membership of recognised professional bodies.
• Candidates must not be more than 59 years at the time of assumption of duty.

Conditions of Service

• The Conditions of Service are the same as those obtainable in Federal Colleges of Education system in Nigeria.
• Salary and other fringe benefits are as applicable to Principal Officers of Federal Colleges of Education.
