Job Title: Research Manager- Creative Economy Practice

Job Description
- The successful candidate will conduct and lead research, produce user-friendly reports and creative outputs, and manage research partnerships related to Creative Economy sectors and trends.
- You will have experience managing applied research projects in a formal context.
- You will need to show evidence of experience in managing at least two research projects outside your academic research
Leadership and Project Management:
- Provide overall leadership and direction for research projects, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Develop and implement comprehensive research plans, including data collection strategies, sampling methodologies, and ethical considerations.
- Manage a team of researchers, including data analysts, to ensure high-quality research outcomes aligned with the research plan.
- Coordinate with the data science lead to integrate data science and machine learning methodologies into the research design.
Research and Data Collection:
- Conduct comprehensive reviews of existing literature, research, and data related to the creative industry landscape in Africa.
- Conduct interviews with key stakeholders, including policymakers, industry experts, and academics, to gather insights into the African creative industry.
- Undertake field research and observation of creative industry activities and practices in different regions of selected countries.
Reporting and Validation:
- Draft comprehensive reports summarizing the key findings of the research, as submitted by research teams.
- Conduct internal validation of submitted reports and incorporate feedback from stakeholders.
- Organize external report validation and framework design workshops to present research findings and contribute to the development of intervention frameworks for sustainable growth in the creative industry sector.
Qualifications
- We are looking for an accomplished researcher who combines excellent technical skills and experience in research projects and team management.
The Successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Advanced Degree in a relevant field, such as Economics, Social Sciences, Data Science, or equivalent research experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience conducting research specifically focused on the creative industry sector in Africa.
- Proven experience in managing research teams and coordinating research activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex research findings clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Knowledge and skills in Qualitative and Quantitative research methods.
- Experience in developing research tools for qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Strong analytical skills, numerical confidence and ability to translate numbers into clear insights and recommendations.
- A critical thinker who is curious, intuitive and pays attention to details
- Innovative with ideas on approaches to collecting, evaluating and modelling datasets that will be used as the foundation for the company’s future solutions
- Strong work ethic and thrives working across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using statistical languages such as R/Stata is desirable.
Job Location:
- The role can be based anywhere in Africa, although Lagos, Nairobi, Kigali and Windhoek are preferred
